Melissa Gilbert in My Brilliant Divorce directed by Aedín Moloney, Fallen Angel Theatre
Melissa Gilbert learned her craft while on the job. “I never really studied,” explains Gilbert, who famously played Laura Ingalls Wilder on the beloved TV series, Little House on the Prairie from the time she was 9 to 19 years old. In fact, she landed the first job she auditioned for, a commercial for Carter’s baby clothing, when she was 2.
Instead, Gilbert was enlightened by some of the greatest performers and professionals of all time. “There is a little something of everybody who has passed on a lesson,” shares the accomplished actress, who was the youngest person to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. “There’s a little bit of Michael Landon. There’s a little bit of Patty Duke. There’s a little George C. Scott. There’s a little Ray Bolger. There’s a little Patricia Neal. These are the people who raised the professional me. I hope to carry all their teachings forward in my work.”
